About The UK Partners

Theatre Centre

Theatre Centre exists to make work with and for young people. We commission new writing from exciting contemporary writers and artists, touring this work into schools and theatres across the UK. We run programmes to bring young people, artists and practitioners together to develop skills, explore big ideas and to make work. Supporting young people as creatives, active citizens and leaders.

We are committed to working inclusively and serving our local and national communities, particularly those that are under-served, under-represented, and under the radar.
Our work is all about amplifying voices, developing agency, centring the experiences of young people, and telling stories that are relevant, authentic and relatable.

We draw all the strands of our practice together into Future Makers. Future Makers works to make democratic brave creative spaces where everyone in the room is valued for what they bring. It ensures young people have an equal stake in the development of Theatre Centre’s work, shaping and co-curating their own experience and that of Future Makers to come.

National Theatre

At the National Theatre, we make world-class theatre that is entertaining, challenging and inspiring. And we make it for everyone. We aim to be open, inclusive and diverse, and work with young people and communities across the country.


Our young people’s programme supports 16-21 year olds to work collaboratively with artists and practitioners to explore every aspect of theatre. We are committed to supporting young people from the groups most impacted by the events of the last year and so our free programmes prioritise places for Black, Asian and ethnically diverse young people, young people from working class backgrounds and disabled young people.

We are excited to be a part of The School of Hope and to open up a space for participants across the UK to come together, explore their hopes for the future and find connections in their experiences.

CAST

CAST, Doncaster’s theatre welcomes audiences and participants of all ages from across the borough of Doncaster, and beyond. Through our partnerships with theatres and artists across the region and country we offer the best performing arts to Doncaster communities (as participants and audience members), with visits from world renowned companies such as the National Theatre taking place alongside the newest freshest work from emerging artists in our second space, to partnerships with other brilliant local organisations
such as darts and the Doncaster Cultural Education Partnership.


As a creative hub, we offer opportunities for local and regional artists to research and develop their ideas and help support great new ideas to get off the ground. We also offer many different types of participatory activity for all ages across the region to take part in the arts. Including an ever growing and popular Youth Theatre, that attracts participants from across the borough.


All the diverse, creative experiences that we offer are enjoyed in an atmosphere that is both welcoming and supportive. We are committed to ensuring parity of inclusivity for people with additional needs to engage with our programme, through adapted performances, supporting access for those with disabilities, and continuing to remove barriers for people accessing the theatre. CAST is a Theatre of Sanctuary.


We are excited to be a part of this project with The Paper Birds as it sits with our values of creating accessible participatory programmes for all and places the wellbeing and mental health of our young people above all else in value. After a turbulent and disrupted year for children and young people across the world, it is wonderful that they will have an opportunity to come together artistically and begin to recover through arts, creativity and connectivity.

Sheffield Theatres

Sheffield Theatres comprises of three very different spaces, The Crucible with its iconic thrust stage, a flexible black box Studio, and The Lyceum, a traditional proscenium arch. When we have activity in all 3 spaces we will see nearly 2500 visitors in an evening! We produce our own work in both the Crucible and Studio, receive an eclectic mix of touring shows in The Lyceum and annually host the World Snooker Championships!


Our Sheffield People’s Theatre Young Company are taking part in this exciting project, directed by Stacey Sampson. The Young Company comprises of 15 young artists, ages 18 – 25, who are passionate about carving a career out in the creative industries. They have varied experience and interests from performers, writers to technicians and composers. The Young Company offers a year-long programme of opportunities and projects working with a range of artists and culminating in developing a show for our Studio Theatre, this year in collaboration with the fantastic Hull-based company, Silent Uproar.

Mercury

Mercury Theatre Colchester is a professional producing theatre in the east of England. At the Mercury, connection is at the heart of everything we do, and partnerships with the theatre are paramount to our engagement with the local community.

We are delighted to be connecting with our local college Colchester Institute for The School of Hope project with The Paper Birds. We’re thrilled to be working with their performing arts students in creating an online space for them to share their voices through artistic explorations in celebration for the future. We’re passionate about elevating young people and developing their creative pathways and we can’t wait to see what the project will hold for the students in Colchester!
